Here is Chapter 8 finally. Sorry once again about the delay.

Disclaimer: They are not mine, I just like to take them out to play every once in a while

AN: This story has gotten slightly off track from where I wanted it to go, so I am going to be trying to pull it back there. This is a short chapter but I just wanted to resolve the current sub plot so I can get back to where i want this to be. Enjoy!

Chapter 8

They sat in chairs staring at each other from across the hall. Mac tapped her foot slowly on the tile floor, arms clasped in her lap. She was trying really hard no to slouch. Harm just sat himself in the uncomfortable scooped plastic chair arms crossed over his chest and ankle resting on knee.

"So…."

Mac let out a sigh, let her chin drop to her chest and then pulling in a deep breath allowed her eyes to level once again with her partner's. "So?"

"How was your night?" Mac just glared at him, his voice conveyed his fishing expedition, as did his slightly raised eyebrow.

"It was quite…entertaining…" Two could play at this game. She stared at him a smirk starting on her lips.

------

"So, I was thinking that once you wake up and everything maybe we could take a vacation to the coast, maybe drive down to the Carolinas. I hear they have amazing beaches there. You know I love to see you in a bikini and I could take the white one that you love. Remember how it took you an entire weekend to master undoing the clasp on the back of it?" Alex was trying really hard not to cry again as she was talking to the woman lying in the bed.

-----

Why was she on a beach? Seriously her brain was being really confusing right now. First the white room, then the rainstorm, and now the beach? Oh Great God who was the goddess in the white bikini? Oh shit, now it was starting to rain! Couldn't she catch a break?

'Alex. The woman's name was Alex. And that bikini was one of her favorites. We drove down the coast in a silver convertible we rented and she was mad because I wouldn't let her drive… that was a good weekend. We should do that again sometime. hmm…something is pressing against my hand, but I can't tell what it is, maybe if I move my fingers…"

-----

"Olivia! Olivia, I know you can hear me. Just squeeze my hand again if you can hear me." Alex was moving forward in her chair, nearly leaning over her prone lover.

"Oh dear God I can hear you will you stop yelling at me already?" Olivia slowly pried her eyes open; they felt like sandpaper.

Alex practically fell on top of Olivia as she hugged the older woman and flailed to press the call button at the same time. Olivia could feel the other woman's tears falling on her cheek and rolling down to her ear. "Hey, hey don't be like that. I'm fine. But if you don't get off me soon I might stop breathing."

There was a muffled laugh coming from her shoulder followed by a series of sniffles gave her the answer that Alex was trying to pull herself together and the blonde managed to pry her self up as the nurse came rushing into the room.

-----

Mac and Harm broke their staring contest to watch as a nurse went rushing past them into Olivia's room. Both heads snapped back to look at each other and they raced to get up and follow the woman through the door.
