Pairing: A/other & A/O
Fandom: SVU
Rating: G through NC-17 to be safe
Season/Spoilers: none, I think
Summary: This story is set before Olivia joins SVU. She is a beat cop and Alex is a law student.
Author's Notes: This story was written by connecticutmcphee , I emailed her to give me this story, so she doesn't mind having it spread around. Also I'll post these in parts, it's kinda long.

She was speeding and she knew it. Usually she was quite punctual but she had stayed over at her boyfriend’s house and forgotten to set the alarm. The buildings and people on the streets turned into a blur around her like a wet painting mixed together by the careless hands of a child. There was a stoplight coming up it was already yellow and threatening to turn an angry red. Alex Cabot gritted her teeth and white-knuckled the steering wheel as she prepared to chance it. Her blue eyes took on a dark, determined hue as she breezed through the intersection. Unfortunately, the light was completely red and had been for at least three seconds. She cursed under her breath and spoke a silent prayer that she would make it by unnoticed and make it to class for the beginning of her test as she wove in and out of traffic.

She felt her heart sink in her chest at the realization that her prayer had gone unheeded when the telltale flashing blue and red lights appeared in her rearview along with the foreboding screech of the siren. As she quickly found a place to pull over, anxiety and fear flooded over her from head to toe. It was that same, awful, frustrating fear that everyone who has ever been pulled over feels. It sucks. She leaned her head against the steering wheel and cursed herself inwardly. Now she was really going to be late for her test. Her head popped up. Unless she could flirt her way out of it! She had done it before, she could do it again.

Alex Cabot was no slouch in the flirtation department, hell, that’s how she had managed to turn in her high school term paper three weeks late and still getan A. Of course the paper itself had been impeccable, it was the timing that was off. She ran her fingers through her hair and pinched her cheeks to rosy them up a bit then checked her side mirror to get a first glimpse at the cop who was about to fall under the persuasive Cabot spell.
