First of all thank you all so much for the comments on my other story which I think I'm going to call "I'm Not Gay" thank you
newbie_2u and
caffinate_me).  Hopefully I will be able to post more soon but I just started a play so I'm busy, but I'll try.  Anyway, in response to the recent turn of events on Conviction (very very very not okay with that and am not sad at all that I don't have time to watch Conviction) I feel the need to post a couple of things that have, once again, been sitting on my hard drive.  These are songfics (I think that's the term) based on a couple of Matt Caplan songs.  I'm not sure if I did them right because well I've never done them before but I felt inspired and figured I would post anyway.  Hope you enjoy...

Title 1: Stupid Friends, based on Matt Caplan's Greenbay
Title 2: Best of My Heart, based on Matt Caplan's Shirt
Pairing: Alex/Olivia (previous Abbie/Olivia in the second one)
Rating: PG-13
Season/Spoilers: None
Author's Notes: I don't own any of the characters though I am seriously considering applying for custody of Alex.  I also don't own the songs, they belong to Matt Caplan who is very talented.  I left off the last couple of lines of Greenbay because they didn't fit into the story and could be left off without much confusion (I think) I will post them if you really want to know what they are.

Stupid Friends

Olivia looked around tentatively at the mass of people swirling around on the dance floor and wished she could join them, but Olivia Benson didn’t dance. Ever. So instead, she opted for a corner booth where she was enjoying her fourth beer and scanning the crowd for friends. This was not their typical bar. Munch, of all people, had suggested the bar as a diversion from the usual grim cop bar and her colleagues had eagerly jumped into the conglomeration of bodies as soon as they had arrived. Olivia spotted Elliot. Kathy had agreed to meet them and she and Elliot were now making out like two horny teenagers on the dance floor. Olivia smiled to herself, ‘Score one for true love,’ she thought. She continued to scan knowing that the sight of Munch dancing would offer a good laugh. Instead, her eyes fell on someone entirely different. ADA Alexandra Cabot danced with her eyes closed, swaying to the beat of the music. She was in a tight blue tank top and jeans. Suddenly a hand tried to whip her around and she lost her balance and fell flat at the feet of John Munch. Olivia stood, but Munch helped Alex up, both laughing.

So there you are now
On your feet again
Had a little spill
Gave the boys a thrill

Olivia sank miserably back into the booth watching as Munch now danced with the beautiful ADA. She stared at her drink contemplating it briefly before downing the last of its contents and ordering another.

And where am I now
Just a student in a test I’m sure to flunk
One beer shy of drunk

‘How the hell did he get so lucky?’ she thought bitterly. Why couldn’t it be her out there dancing with the ADA, making her laugh and smile? What was she laughing about anyway? Munch surely wasn’t that funny.

Oh what I’d really like to meet your eyes on common ground
I’d really like to try and see if we fit perfectly together

“You know you could ask her to dance,” Elliot had slid into the seat next to her, Kathy still attached to his arm.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

He rolled his eyes, “Is that so? Then why have you been staring?”

“I wasn’t staring, besides how would you know. You seemed a little preoccupied.” She raised an eyebrow at Kathy who giggled and continued to nibble on her husband’s ear.

“If you won’t do something I will. Munch, Cabot!” They turned and he beckoned them over.

But my stupid friends keep getting in the way
By having entirely too much to say

Olivia felt her heart began to race. Shit, she had to get out of there. She bolted for the bathroom as fast as she possibly could, quickly locking the door behind her. She stood in front of the mirror staring at herself while compulsively washing her hands.

So here am I now
In the bathroom with
Both hands in the sink
Bought some time to think

Why couldn’t she just tell Alex? Ask her if maybe it was possible to be something more than friends? She narrowed her eyes at the reflection. Even a no had to be better than this…limbo. Right? Sighing, she exited the bathroom and noticed that Alex was back on the dance floor. This time with Fin. She glared as she noticed four guys opening checking out the gorgeous blonde.

And where are you now
You’re still in your groove
Catching every eye of every passerby

She didn’t deserve Alex Cabot. She knew it and she was sure as hell that Alex probably knew it too, but that didn’t stop her from wanting Alex completely. Needing her, maybe even loving her.

Oh what I’d really like to take you out and paint the town
With every color in a spectrum of a beautiful connection

She frowned as one of the men who had been checking Alex out cut in and started to dance with her.

“Looks like you have competition,” Elliot smirked and, for the first time in her life, Olivia hated him just a little bit.

She glared at Elliot who was sharing a knowing look with Fin, Munch, and Kathy. That was the last straw. She was disowning all of them.

But your stupid friends keep getting in the way
By having entirely too much to say

The blaring music was giving her a headache. She wanted nothing more than to go home and sink into bed, but she couldn’t keep her eyes off of the ADA. The sight of the man practically humping Alex on the dance floor only made Olivia sink further into her fowl mood. However, her heart jumped as Alex pulled away and not so politely told him what looked like it could be, “Get the hell off me and go fuck yourself.”

And if music be the food of love, I’m overeating
And it’s hard to hear my thoughts when both my ears are bleeding

The man sulked away and Alex was back into rhythm. Another one of the men tried to come over but she pulled away. She danced alone and Olivia was convinced that it was the most beautiful sight she had ever seen in her life.

And that’s alright if there is no romance cause I can watch you dance
Yeah, from the corner
Oh I can watch you dance
And I know we’re getting older but I can watch you dance

Suddenly she was drawn from her trance as she felt a surge of movement next to her then the feeling of flight as she flew towards the dance floor. Elliot, Kathy, Munch, and Fin had used their combined efforts to push her out of the booth sending her hurdling toward the blonde. She ended up on her hands and knees at Alex’s feet in a position that looked very much like one of adoration. Alex knelt down and brown eyes met blue.

“Gee, I would have settled for a mere compliment on my dancing, you didn’t have to go straight to worshipping,” Alex smiled. Olivia was breathless and not thinking leaned forward and pressed her lips against Alex’s. Alex immediately placed her hands on the back of Olivia’s head and deepened the kiss. Finally needing oxygen, they reluctantly broke apart.

“Take me home, Liv…”

Olivia didn’t need to be asked twice. With probably the biggest grin of her life plastered across her face she grabbed Alex’s hand and exited the bar as fast as humanly possible.

Yes, our stupid friends keep getting in the way…

She silently promised to thank her friends later.

Best of My Heart

Olivia Benson stared into the mirror contemplating her reflection. She could feel the weight of every day of her thirty-five years and then some.

Flesh is feeling older
A truth no tune can quell
And I feel life's decay
In my soul as well

How could she do this everyday? How could she take in all the horrors of the world? She signed and rubbed her face. The only time thoughts of her job were pushed from her mind was when thoughts of a certain blonde ADA took over. Those thoughts, however, didn’t help either. She had somehow managed to fall for the woman over the last year and a half. Hard. The mere thought of SVU’s ADA sent shivers down her spine.

And even though the vessel is mostly sound
Beating and breathing
Love's increasing trials like gray hairs
Are still found

It had finally happened last night. “It” being the consummation of their attraction. Olivia had invited Alex for drinks with the squad. Much to her surprise, Alex accepted and was soon knocking back beers with the rest of the squad. As the alcohol intake increased so did the innuendo and extraneous touching between the two. Fin was the first to leave followed by Elliot then Munch. Alex and Olivia were left in silence contemplating what to do next. Downing the last of her beer for some last minute liquid courage Olivia turned to Alex who spoke before she got the chance, “Your place or mine?” Within minutes, they had called a cab and were on their way to Olivia’s apartment. They barely made it through the door when Alex attacked her knocking her to the ground. When they were finished Olivia noticed that she, in her over eagerness, had ripped Alex’s shirt. She shyly offered her one of her own.

And sure you were looking fine in my shirt
But you'd make a blind man stop on a dime
I'll let you waste the best of my heart
But you'd best not waste my time

Alex had not stayed the night citing an early court date the next morning. She gave Olivia a brief kiss then left as quickly as she had come. Unable to deal with any of the emotion connected to the situation, Olivia collapsed onto the bed and let herself fall into exhaustion. The next morning she was unsure whether she wanted to see Alex. Part of her wanted it more than anything, but the rational part acknowledged that they had never established exactly what last night meant, if anything. Olivia left the bathroom and checked the clock. It was almost six. She felt a slight pang of disappointment that she had managed to spend the entire day without seeing Alex when the ADA breezed into the squad room. She nodded hello to Elliot, Much, and Fin, but seemed to ignore Olivia as she entered the Captain’s office.

So I read into actions
I'm not ashamed to say
Years of failed exams grow you up
That way

Olivia wished she was confused by Alex’s actions, but she knew all too well what they meant. Alex wanted to forget anything happened last night. Olivia sighed. This is the way that it always happens. She was always attracted to the bi-curious straight girls who wanted a one night only guided tour to the wonderful world of lesbian-ism and nothing more.

And lovers teaching me how to be insecure
By lying or leaving

She thought back to her past lovers. Abbie had been the only one more than a one-night stand, but a relationship with a conservative Republican lesbian was anything but healthy. She had loved Abbie though and they had tried to work it out, but eventually it became too much and Abbie had jumped at the chance to take a job away from the temptation of Olivia. Last she heard, Abbie was engaged to a nice boy in Washington D.C. ‘Well good for her,’ Olivia thought. Abbie deserved happiness, and if being with Olivia didn’t make Abbie happy then they shouldn’t be together. But Olivia deserved happiness too and she had thought that she had found the potential for happiness with Alex. Granted that she only had a year and a half of sexual tension culminating in a night of passion with Alex, but, for one moment as Alex lay in her arms, Olivia had let herself believe that perhaps this was the beginning of happiness. In light of recent actions, however, she scoffed at herself for being so stupid. She had been Alex’s “experiment” and she would just have to get the hell over it. Her thoughts were broken by the blonde’s emergence from Cragen’s office. She pretended to concentrate on paperwork when she heard Elliot’s voice.

“Hey, Alex, we were planning on going for a drink, want to join?” Olivia silently cursed her partner.

“Sure, I just need to finish up a couple of things and I’ll meet you there,” Alex smiled, “Olivia, I have a couple of things I need to go over for your testimony on Wednesday if you’re not too busy you could come with me now and we can take care of it.”

Olivia stared at her for a moment, not knowing exactly what the request meant before mumbling a sure and grabbing her jacket.

Some can graduate
I just study more

Yes, it was probably a stupid idea to go with Alex. She would probably be told, in no uncertain terms, that last night meant absolutely nothing and that they were never to mention it again, but she went anyway, not knowing exactly what to expect. What she didn’t expect was to hear the click of a lock and have Alex pounce on her as soon as they got through the door.

“God, I have wanted you all day,” Alex moaned as fought with Olivia’s belt.

In all honesty, Olivia was not sure what to do. She wanted to stop Alex and demand an explanation for her behavior. She wanted to define exactly what was going on and make rules so they knew exactly what they were doing, but all she could currently think about was the feel of Alex’s skin against her own and, at the moment, she wanted nothing more than to maximize the contact.

An hour later, they were cuddling on the floor of Alex’s office, their backs against the ADA’s couch.

“Well I think that testimony should go off quite well in court,” Alex grinned.

“I…” Before Olivia could even finish forming the thought, Alex was up and getting dressed.

“Get dressed, we’re already late.”

Olivia sighed and shook her head, but obeyed. Soon they were walking through the door of O’Malley’s. As soon as they were through the door, Alex was away from her side, mingling and flirting. Olivia ordered their drinks and waited patiently as Alex charmed each of the male members of the squad.

So when you arrive somewhere on my arm
Why make me wait around in a line?

As much as Olivia hated to admit it, she was jealous. She knew that she couldn’t make Alex reciprocate her feelings or even respect them (especially considering she hadn’t even told Alex how she felt) but a part of her was hurt and pissed at Alex for leading her on.

Cause I'll let you waste the best of my heart
But you'd best not waste my time

She walked away from Alex and her “fan club” and settled into a place at the bar downing both Alex’s drink and her own.

You'd best not waste my time

She noticed that it wasn’t just the squad at the booth now. Other cops were coming over and flirting with Alex. It wasn’t hard to notice the beautiful blonde in this place. Against all the slum, she stuck out like a regal sore thumb. Olivia could do nothing but sigh and order another drink as she watched her…well whatever she was get chummy with what seemed like every cop in New York.

And watching them all grow like little children
Rotten apples
Never falling far from my eye
They just multiply

She couldn’t take it anymore. What happened between them may not have meant anything to Alex, but it sure as hell meant something to Olivia and she could not just sit here and watch the scene before her. Throwing back her third drink of the night, Olivia got up from the bar. Casting one last look at the laughing ADA, she turned and left.

But I'm gonna keep my pieces in check
And I've got a sneak attack in a rhyme

Olivia felt the cold against her face. She closed her eyes and rubbed her temples. This was ridiculous. She had only known Alex for a year and a half. They had only slept together twice, but she still felt like her heart was breaking at the sight of Alex flirting with other people.

But I'd rather forfeit from the offset
Than let you waste my time

“Olivia…” Olivia turned to find Alex looking at her questioningly. “Liv, are you alright?”

Olivia shivered a little at the use of her nickname, “I have to go home.”

“Why?”

“Because I…I can’t.”

“Can’t what?”

“Can’t just sit there and pretend like nothing happened between us.”

Alex looked around nervously, making sure no one was listening, “Can you please keep your voice down.”

“Jesus Christ, Alex.”

“Please,” she took Olivia’s hand.

“Fuck you.” Alex looked stunned. “I’m leaving.” She turned to go.

“Olivia, wait.” Alex grabbed her shoulder.

“What?”

“Why is this so important to you? What about a little discretion?”

“Discretion? Alex, this is not discretion, this is denial. Look, I’m sure I’m spoiling your fun but I need to stop this before I get hurt anymore.”

“Hurt?”

“God, you really are a blonde.”

“Well I suppose you’d know better than anyone that’s all natural,” Alex tried to joke.

Olivia frowned at her, “Goodnight, Alex.”

“Wait, Olivia,” Alex grabbed Olivia and kissed her passionately, roughly pushing her against the brick wall, “I will not let you leave me like this.”

Despite herself, Olivia kissed her back. Feeling Alex’s touch, suddenly everything else became inconsequential. Alex broke the kiss and hailed a cab. “Let’s go home, Detective,” she said pulling Olivia in with her. Olivia let her head hit the back of the seat as Alex began to kiss down her neck. She sighed.

So you'd best not waste my time
You’d best not waste my time.
