I know how you feel :). I like reading my old stories far more now than I used to when I had just written them. Some of them are better than I thought, some of them not so much. I always mean to go back and improve the writing.

Right now I'm trying to write my first new fic in ages and, you're right, it is exciting, even though I'm totally out of my comfort zone because I've never written in this fandom before. Which fandom are you planning on writing in? Is it the same one as you were writing in before, or something different?

It's for the same fandom, the one I've been writing in for the longest - Harry Potter. About three, four months ago I started a new FF for a new fandom - before I even started typing it out, I made my research on the fandom and the topic I would be writing about. You should try it, it helps :)
