Such a lucky break, he marvelled, for iron and sulfur to exist in the perfect proportional quantities to allow this to happen.

Gah, this just killed me. What an incredible ending for them, to contribute to the rebirth of the Earth. Just another of the many ways they've saved the world. Beautiful story.

I adore this! The idea that Sam and Dean can somehow reform earth and have such a profound effect on it in its rebirth - what a beautiful and stunning thought! It's even more perfect coming from Cas's POV too, which you captured perfectly.

I loved your heaven construction too, with heaven overlapping so everyone can stay connected as and when they feel. There's something so heartwarming and perfect about that.

A stunning fic (and art too!) Thank you for sharing :)

Thank you so much for this beautiful gift! I love the scope and strangeness you've given Sam and Dean's afterlife, the ways you've loosened up the claustrophobia of SPN's vision of heaven, and the ways that Cas, with his human history with Sam and Dean but with a nature that isn't human, finds ways to relate to them with all of himself. If he has the capacity to be jealous of the parts of Sam that he isn't part of, he has the compensation of being involved with them in ways that speak to his specifically angelic nature ( ... )

yayyy, I'm so glad you enjoyed this! I was a little worried that some of the alien strangeness you requested re. Cas' angelic nature wouldn't really come across that well, so I'm very relieved that it worked for you!

and I agree with you about the muddled, drawn-out healing aspects of Sam and Cas' relationship. the latter half of the series has drawn so many parallels between them that a very close relationship between the two oftentimes seems like the next logical step. (but then I suppose if all the viewers are 100% appeased there would be no need for fanfiction, and it wouldn't work quite as well, pacing/season-arc-wise, on screen rather than in fic.)

anyway, thank you so much for reading and for commenting. happy (belated) holidays and happy new year!

This is so stunning--just, all of it. From Castiel's description of how Heaven functions, in its many pockets and overlaps--and then, of course, those moments he gets to share with Sam--to SAM AS A HYDROTHERMAL VENT <333333 to Castiel's description of the crash and his ferrying of their souls, blood, demon blood, to Heaven is just marvelous and, no exaggeration, truly stunning. I'll say it a third time, because it needs it: This. Is. Stunning!!! And I love it to pieces. <33333333333

What a fantasically imagined story of Sam and Dean's permanent contribution to life on our planet, and so lyrically written in Cas' POV!
