Got knocked off my bike by a car today, that sucked (though I figured it was inevitable when I started a few months ago). Much good all those lights and reflectors did me, but at least the helmet did its job pretty brilliantly. Somehow I feel like I've earned my cycling stripes now.

Gonna feel it tomorrow, for sure.

Yikes! Glad you're all right. The same thing happened to my husband a couple months ago. Let's hear it for helmets.

Haha, my parents are probably gratified they got something through my thick skull (or on top of it, actually)! My coworkers have been telling me a lot of their own stories ... seems like there's lots of injured biker solidarity. :)

Ow ow ow! And alas, there is some stupidity that no amount of lights can protect you from, but hurrah for helmet! Oh I hope that you are all right and heal quickly. Did you get the driver's details?

I'm okay, just a bit sore and ... uh, variegated. I live next to a medical campus so the EMTs came right over, and actually the woman who hit me is a nurse so I got checked over to the point of redundancy. I have all the insurance info and an accident report and whatnot. It was all pretty efficient, I was home a half-hour later.

I enjoyed your post on religion the other day, and reading through the comments. But then you started talking about slapping spoons and I was wondering what the heck that was, and Google was giving me results about car repair and I was thinking why are other people getting references to car repair and what on earth does it have to do with fandom wank? and it was all very surreal. Things made sense in the morning!
