I love the intensity of this, and the way you take the edge off by leaving certain big things a little unexplained, not fully sharpened or examined, allowing the otherwise trivial details (like the scrape of Harry's teeth against Draco's finger) to well up. I especially loved this:

He isn’t lying; Potter speaks in straight, certain lines. Sees in straight lines, too-but it’s often a narrow field of vision. Draco leans against the wall and, for the hundredth time, scrutinises his prospects.

It's such a great visual of how Harry talks, and how deeply introspective Draco has been throughout the affair--he's really, sincerely tried to come up with a way out, but he hasn't found it yet. Great story--thank you for writing! I'll add it to the master list for the no-pressure laissez faire fest. ♥

Thanks for your comments-it's very encouraging to get such nice words, especially from a writer I admire :0)

I'm glad the depth of field worked out ... it took a few rewrites to get the focus where I wanted it, but I think the backstory is where it belongs. And Draco's inner struggle is really key; I wanted to show his well-being at odds with his desire, and at odds with Harry himself (who is a force of his own).

I've been insanely busy the past month or so, but I'm looking forward to reading some of the fest fics now that I have some time. Thanks for putting it together!
