Royal cypher on the PotC 4 set

The Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich is just getting ready for the PotC 4 shooting, as many of you probably know already (on LJ, geekmama writes about it here). You can also watch the arrangements here.

What interested me the most is the photo with a royal cypher visible on a banner. Does it says something on PotC timeline? Yes, I know there is no big sense in such inquiries when PotC is about, but let's forget of this for a moment. Inquiries are fun. ;)

joyful_molly mentioned about King Ferdinand of Spain expected in PotC. This would give the dates 1746 - 1759, as she says. I'm wondering if the cypher would confirmed it. I've had doubts for awhile whether it's British banner at all, but the G[eorge] R[ex] letters are quite legible, am I right? But which George it is... Three kings come into the play, don't they? George I 1714-1727, George II 1727-1760, George III 1760-1820. Fortunately, it's so kind of them to be of good health, since only three was enough for the all century.

Here and here are the cyphers of George II. Looks as if the crown on the banner would patterned on the former version. The crown in the latter has lilies instead of palmettes. Lilies are also in the crown of the cypher (scroll down) of George III. On the other hand, there is one important difference on the banner - there is no number on the 'G'. Can it mean that it's supposed to be George I? Only image (zoom to the centre) of the George's I cypher I have at the moment is more decorative and intricate than the previous images, but of course it doesn't settle the matter, it's only the other style.

Of course, most probably we'll actually get a some mix of details more or less convenient for filmmakers - it's PotC after all (and as you can see, the kings themselves also used many versions of their cyphers) - but this aside, there can be at least one more reason for all this investigation can be abortive. What if the banner doesn't belong to the main thread or the narrative tense (um, can I say so?) of the movie? If it's a some reminiscence from before years? OK, enough of this lengthy bore, we'll see in the future what it's worth. Any thoughts? :)
