AO3 is in need

Sep 21, 2015 20:50

An AO3 staffer I happen to know has an urgent message:

"The OTW (AO3 is only one of its projects - it's an umbrella organisation) is holding elections to the Board this autumn.

We desperately need new blood on the Board and we want people to vote. BUT, voting rights depend on having donated the minimum (at least $10) in the financial year prior to the election. Hopefully this sort of stops anybody packing the voting at the last minute. (Would anybody do that? I have no idea, but they could, in theory, if we didn't have the rule...)

However, this means that you can't wait till the annual October membership drive to vote this year. The relevant financial year for the org ends on 30th September.

So please, please, if you read fic, write fic, use Fanlore, look at the TWC journal, appreciate the work of Open Doors or just like the idea that Legal are there for you, and you're not already a voting member, get yourself to:

http://transformativeworks.org/how-you-can-help/support and donate and make sure you actually join.

Having an account is not enough.

I will post later about how the voting works - someone is busy creating a really nifty cartoon strip to explain. Meanwhile:

Your Organisation Needs You!! Yes, You!"

Spread the word, please.
