I think it trivializes the situation too much. It's a horrible quagmire there, yes, but that piece represents a weird attitude towards it all to me.

Even though I strictly speaking agree.

Maybe? I think it makes a good point (one that seems to elude many) that attempting to place the antagonists in the conflict on a moral spectrum is larely futile.
