Hmm... while I didn't vote National, I don't think things'll turn out as bad as they might have. National's moved a lot further left in recent years; some have said that they're almost as close to the centre as Labour used to be about a decade ago.

They're certainly campaigning on a more centrist platform than previously but whether that reflects a genuine shift to the left or whether it merely reflects electoral necessity ('swallowing dead fish', as Lockwood Smith would say) is another question entirely
