I get to go to the LA Fashion District for the very first time tomorrow!!! YAY! There is a group going from Belle Alley and since I can't go to Costume College yet again this year (and probably won't for quite some time still) I am really excited about getting to go finally ( Read more... )

I think it's Fabrics & Fabrics, 403 E. 9th Street (accd. to http://www.fashiondistrict.org/ ) that has good deals. You have to haggle & bring cash -- which applies to all the shops, IME. They'll often drop sales tax or give you a flat price discount for cash. Always ask "is that the best price you can give me?" Never hurts. And don't look too super-interested. If you're ok w/walking away, they're more likely to deal.

Anyway, Fabrics & Fabrics has had some really pretty silks in the back for around or just under $10/yd., tho' the store is claustrophobic. I hear they had some good velvets recently too, wide silk/rayon.

Oooo, now I'm jealous! Buy something wonderful :-)

Ok, I will make sure to check them out, silk is definately one of the things that I really want to get while I am there. I am planning on picking up cash after I pick up the Garage Sale items from you on the way home tonight.

ooohhhh velvet....
