Shannara was nothing like the books, but I have what's probably the unpopular opinion that it was better, because Amberle was so much more interesting in the TV series. The eye candy was also good. :)

Oh, I'm glad that I wasn't imagining it!

It's a lot less "and the color of his cloak against the leaves..." at least.
