As a friend of mine would say, there was an "innocence" about that episode that felt good. The (almost) absence of angst made it light and delightful. How long has it been since we've enjoyed Dean being all bad jokes and annoying big bro?
The scene where Sam denies Castiel his hug was both so hilarious and so fucking SAD. POOR CASTIEL. HIS LITTLE FACE WAS CRYING IN THE INSIDE.
As for the purgatory and the cute mom.... Well, I can't say I'm excited: after Lucy, God and the Apocalypse, the purgatory and a pretty teenager don't seem particularly impressive. But as I haven't been impressed by anything by this season so far (plot-wise, I mean), I'm considering it with a vague curiosity. :P
PS: my icon is now inaccurate. We know Sam isn't a dragon. I'm sad.
i totally agree about the innocence of the ep, and the entertainment value of the scene where sam denies cas his hug :D
now that it's been some time since this ep aired, i can't say i'm too excited about the purgatory thing. the plot doesn't seem to have progressed very much and i'm not expecting anything very cool when ~all is revealed~
I'm paying so much attention to the plot lately that I thought they had already dropped the whole purgatory business, that basically, it was just a strange mean to introduce Mother. That being said, I'd have a hard time telling what is the plot lately in SPN. Killing everybody all over again?

the emotional stuff was definitely awesome in this ep. i really missed seeing the real sam and dean interact together, so it was a refreshing change :D
i liked it, but i don't actually remember anything past OH MY GOD THAT HUG SAM CLOSED HIS EYES I BET HE GROPED HIM AND INHALED HIS SCENT A LITTLE TOO ASDFSGDJFHNFSBDJFGSSHNDF, so on and so forth.
