I felt like this episode was a bit of a wasted opportunity, if that makes sense? Like, an ep with DALEKS vs SPITFIRES in WW2 written by MARK GATISS should have been considerably more awesome than it was. (And like others, I couldn't help but compare it to "The Empty Child", which is just phenomenal.) And the plot seemed a bit meh - the appearance of the Daleks themselves felt a bit shoehorned, you know?
I didn't hate it - I quite enjoyed it - just felt like it could have been so much more. So that I'm not being totally negative - here are things I loved:
- Eleven punching Bracewell (LOL AWESOME) - Eleven fucking the Daleks up with an iron bar or whatever that was - How INSANE Eleven must have seemed to everyone else - he just went apeshit on the Daleks seemingly without provocation, which made me LOL - THE JAMMY DODGER (which I recognised instantly - they were a staple party food of my childhood XD) - Amy in general who is great.
EXACTLY. i agree with all the points you made - especially that it seemed like a wasted opportunity. i didn't hate it, but it could've been a fantastic episode, and it wasn't.
ELEVEN PUNCHING BRACEWELL AND LOOKING LIKE A CARTOON WHILE DOING SO = <333 matt's faaace, haha! i loved that and all the other scenes you mentioned.
I thought that after the first two being so good, that 3 was a bit of let down. It seemed like just and excuse to introduce the new!Dalek and say that Amy doesn't remember them (weird, that).
Also, I was talking to a friend and we were wondering if Moffett(sp?) will be up to writting furll time. Yes, he can do some SPECTACULAR eps in a season, but writting full time? Will all the eps be good? Will they start to loose the special quality they have since he's writing more often?
yeh i enjoyed the first 2 so much that i think my expectations were a little TOO high for this episode.
a friend on my flist suggested that the cracks in the universe are related to amy, because they show up wherever she does. i'm thinking her not remembering the daleks is connected to that as well.
moffat's done some pretty awesome episodes, but you bring up a good point about whether he can do it for an ENTIRE season. i'm hoping he can? like, i hope it doesn't get diluted as the season progresses :/
