I don't think it's unhealthy to enjoy fictional angst! I love it, too, and consider myself a well-adjusted, happy person in RL. :) It makes stories so much more high-stakes and exciting to me if there are heavy emotions and anguish and such, is all.

heh well angst puts my head in a bad place sometimes but i crave it. it's like a freaking DRUG. but you're right - high stakes is right.

i don't know what it is about me and unrepentant angst. i mean, it's so unhealthy. but i want pages upon pages of characters getting fucked up, and being miserable, and tons of UST. dysfunction and heartache and unadulterated anguish. i don't even like stories with established relationships b/c that means they've already gone through the whole stretch of hurdles, which means my heart won't get torn to shreds, and i won't get all choked up and puffy-faced over fictional characters.

I don't think anything's wrong with you. I have to admit to enjoying some angst myself! But I think it's what makes a story. There has to be some kind of conflict.

Hmm, it's okay, I think angst makes the world go round and round and round.

On that note, I finished The Demon's Lexicon and I'm in LOVE with it. I understand what you mean by it dragging along in the first half but it picks up relatively quickly. AND I THINK IT'S AMAZING AND AM IN TOTAL LOVE WITH NICK.
