i've spent a large chunk of this morning squeeing over asylum photos & con reports, and catching up with the flist. and now i can finally post an entry!

note to self: honestly. if you're not going to check your lj from friday - monday, either set up some bloody filters, or don't care about reading everything the flist has

heheh south asians are obsessed with having lighter complexions - especially when it comes to women. guys want light-skinned girls, girls want to BE light-skinned, and mothers want their children or children's significant others to be light-skinned. it's bizarre.

and also incredibly ironic b/c HELLO we're south asian. we're genetically predisposed to a certain pigmentation. and who cares if someone's white or yellow or brown or any colour of the rainbow. ugh.

luckily my own family doesn't give a rat's arse about this kind of shit but i've grown up listening to other people lament to my mum/dad "awh it's unfortunate your daughter is so dark" or tell me to my face that i should try different things to change the colour of my skin :P

It was a lovely birthday, thank you! I got my very own copy of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, amongst other things, so we should probably fangirl it together at some point. XD
