Computer Follies

Well, I still have so much to learn on this beast, but a few victories this evening.  In preparation for TRIVIA (more on that in another entry), I managed to create a guest user account so when I schlep my computer up to St. Cloud for the team to use, my stuff will remain under my user account, while any guests who use my computer in the course of ( Read more... )

Time for trivia again!?!? Wow, time goes by fast, indeed... I can't wait to see what the team names are this year! :D

Hooray for iconage! LJ is a bit cracky sometimes (damn censorship) but they are good about telling you how to do everything.

The best way to know a computer is to play with it. :) It wants to be fondled. Deny it not the privilege!

Well, there's different learning styles in action. I've spent two years in a world where I learned mainly from the experience and example of people who already know how to do what I am attempting to learn, very hands on, very different from the rest of my learning career, and I surprisingly found it very useful. I learned things that I would have eventually come to on my own, but I also learned things that would never have occured to me. With the computer, there is the additional hobbling of having no freakin' clue where to start with some things. And the lack of time and solitude to puzzle things out. Plus, there's the fellowship aspect, of getting together with a purpose in mind, and having a hell of a lot of fun accomplishing that purpose. However, me asking for help is an extremely rare thing, I don't do it easily or often at all. With luck, the stars will align, and I will find a way or ways through this astounding complexity ( ... )
