Coughs can be dangerous for even ordinarily health people. I broke a rib coughing once, and developed pleurisy from the irritation on another occasion. Coughs can indicate all sorts of other conditions, and it isn't simply symptomatic relief people seek from their GP's. Or would you rather they sit in their offices or go to their supermarket job, or medical office job, or any other job where they work with the public, spreading their germs by hacking up a lung?

I know I'd rather they go to the doctor, get a medical certificate and stay the hell away from me...as someone with chronic conditions I can't fix I can't afford to get sick, but it's people who "soldier on" and go to work sick that put my life at risk :/
