Perhaps they have a 30% failure rate, and it's to replace the one that doens't take.

They're only little canes so I'd plant 4 in the space you have for 3...

You're braver than me - I don't think I'd order plants online. When you go to the nursery yourself, you can pick the bushiest, healthiest looking ones. And you don;t get any extras!

After a long drive round a lot of nurseries, I found that none of those near here sold the cultivars I had decided to plant after my careful research. Indeed, none of the local nurseries sold ANY primocane raspberries at all!

That would be a good enough reason, I suppose. How odd, though, not to sell raspberries.

They sold lots of rasberries, but all were floricanes.
