My friend got upset because Leafs lost on Saturday. Well, here's the cure: watch Olympic women hockey. We are destroying Sweden as I write this. Yesterday we totally destroyed Russians. Now I have to go bang on wood so this winning streak does not end. (I can't believe we lost to Sweden in curling yesterday, though

I suspect the Great Russian Mafia Figure-Skating Conspiracy may have experienced a sudden re-vitalization simply because we Canucks seriously spanked the poor wee Russian team. You have to get back at us somehow, and yet another four years of Olympic denial is a good way to do that.

I don't quite understand why people think Russia has a strong women hockey team. It really doesn't. Hockey has always been considered strictly a man's sport in that country. Hell, even the hockey song specifically stresses this sexist attitude.

wot? all the drinking of vodka, the frigging cold winters, and the whole Soviet era didn't produce women who could pull tractors, lift a couple of pigs and outdrink certain bald FIS students? If my own experience of Russian women is anything to go by, I'd naturally assume that the Russian women's hockey team would be a dangerous mob of solid, fearsome, glass-eating Cossack types. Admittedly, the 12-0 defeat of the team puts a little dampener on that image, but c'mon, Russian women? Intimidating, especially if they're archivists. Not to be idly messed with.

Well they got to keep their Gold in 2002 so hopefully they're not bitter anymore about the streak continuing. :P

Still gotta see my tape with the Russian pairs and see if they really deserve it. I really wish China hit that quadruple sow-cow and win it all, looked spectacular before she landed. ;)
