If you haven't already seen this week's edition of The City Paper, you've managed to miss one of the leading topics of gothic scene gossip/hysteria in quite a while. It contains two pretty decent pics of me (particularly considering how lousy I felt that evening, lol) and an amusing article about the Midnight/SB competition that has most people I've heard from laughing, but a few Gothic Establishment folks reportedly foaming at the mouth (at least on LJ, where reality sometimes fades into dementia).
Virtually everyone involved, including me, has quibbles about how they were quoted, etc. (In my case it's my own fault, thanks to office chaos, for not getting back to them before deadline.) But Amanda Hess's article, as a whole, is a pretty accurate and balanced one (at least as a portrait of last Saturday). It's also a reminder about how we're viewed by the public at large.
Midnight certainly didn't approach TCP to do a story about this. (Hmmm--so that leaves...)
If you haven't seen it yet, we're hoping to have some extra copies available tonight. Show up early in order to grab one!
