What sports teams do you root for? Why?

My friends list tends not to write about sports, but I do know I have some fanatics (castarlet - Rams, aliki - Yankees (ewwww!), antisocialite - Redskins, woolf - Red Wings, erechtheus - Dolphins, majorweather - Lakers are the ones that jump to mind

I'm a diehard Mets fan, because they were the kings of NY baseball in the late 80s when I first started watching, and I live in Connecticut.

(I quite enjoyed watching Doc Gooden, Sid Fernandez and David Cone pitch for the Mets in the mid-to-late 80s).

Astros and Rockets, 'cause they're the only teams I've ever seen play (more than once). Lame, right? I also lived in Texas for a while and spend lots of time in Houston. It just... happens.

FOR: UCLA, CAL
AGAINST: Any Florida Team, USC

Baseball:
FOR: Cardinals, Padres
AGAINST: Yankees, Marlins

Hockey:
FOR: The STL Blues
AGAINST: Detroit
CURRENTLY: Against all the whiny ass bitch players that got the season shortened and haven't spoken in almost 2 months with the negotiators. Fuckers.

Basketball:
UCLA and Lakers, though I don't really like Bball.

I also watch golf and nascar occasionally when I am desperate for other sports.

Even though you are against my beloved Wings, I feel the need to commiserate with a fellow hockey player. What I wouldn't give right now to see anybody playing hockey. The local high school isn't even in season. This is so, so, so terribly sad.
