This is a great, gutting passage: He always thought falling in love would end with a soft landing. Instead it feels like bouncing off a cliff face, scraped raw long after the headlong rush is over. Bradley has been hit by the emotional tsunami of having Colin back in his life. Of course it fucking hurts.
Colin hiding behind his job, convincing himself that this thing with Bradley is all about payback, speaks to how badly he was hurt by Bradley compartmentalizing what they had. Colin had been in love, Bradley had been emphatically not emotionally involved. How could Colin ever trust the man with his heart again?
