Windshield replacement!

Jul 30, 2008 18:59

Well like the subject says, that's what I need to have done to my car now! I'm weary about where to go to though. One of my co-workers had her newly replaced windshield fall out during on a very windy night. Suggestions please, even if it's just a place to avoid. Thanks.

advice, cars

We've had SafeLite replace ours twice, once at their site over New Year's 2006/2007 and once at my husband's job this past winter (no, the second time was in no way due to a fault in the windshield). After the first time the weather stripping started to come loose once (must have been not long after, I know the snow hadn't melted yet) and they replaced it for free in about 15 minutes.

I think each time was about $230, I drive a 2004 Saturn if that helps with judging the price. I'd use them again although I don't absolutely *love* them.

Few years ago i had someone smash a window in my van, i called aroudn and found

Glass Emporium‎
9906 Indian School Rd NE
Albuquerque, NM 8711

they were abotu half the price as some other places and they did a good job. A year later i went back needing a rear window, and they hooked me up with a used one at a very good price, installed it very professionally.

you will want to call around, there is a huge spread in pricing from place to place.

Arvizu's Glass. (505) 842-8851. He's just a guy with a mobile glass replacement service. He's always been a lot cheaper than anyone else I've gotten glass from, usually under $200.

Generally I would call around to the junkyards, find a window, and they always had a place that installed them for cheap. I never had a problem with these places.

Glass Emporium has always done all of mine and my family and friends glass. They are the ones with the grandma commercial. Somtimes I do call other places just to check prices and Glass Emporium ALWAYS beats anyone. I dont think Ive ever paid more than about 125 for any windshield. They are very nice and have lifetime warranties also. They are on Indian School I think. Their number is 505-294-2500

I also ran across their profile on myspace. Just search Glass Emporium and it will come up.
