If you need to resort to taking them to a shelter, contact ACAT. They don't have a shelter building, are no-kill, and foster cats in real homes until they can be placed. Great people, and much nicer than the Humane Society or the like.
Also contact a group called CARMA. They are also no-kill and all foster based. I am a foster mom for some of their kitties and they are a really good group.
i'll see. that would put us at five and the landlord authorized four (but he's pretty easygoing...) but i couldn't imagine splitting them up. just not sure whether the cat politics would work. been trying to figure whether i wanted a new one after mine passed a year ago.
