Crossed Wires (6/8)

Part 6

Peter hadn’t quite known what to expect the next time he saw Carl in the harsh light of day. Perhaps he’d thought that he would be somehow different after that night in which Peter’s preconceived opinions of the boy had been so thoroughly shaken. Maybe he had even toyed with the notion that Carl would leave behind all his shallow, ( Read more... )

Now the program that his life had become had a soundtrack apparently, other than the shouting and noises of merriment from the living room. There was definitely music. Bloody beautiful music too…just a simple melody layered over chords, and the lyrics weren’t up to much really...but the voice…that was what made Peter really listen, strain his ears and walk along the hallway to get closer to wherever it was coming from. It was like velvet, no…that was wrong, more like chocolate. The really rich dark stuff, not your regular Galaxy or Dairy Milk with its light, shallow sweetness that slipped so easily down the throat, but the chocolate that you might get a block of once in a blue moon, the proper high-cocoa stuff that was luxuriously thick and felt like silk against your tongue, just begging to be held there and savored for a moment until it would melt in the wet heat, running in rivulets down your throat, bringing that delicious richness, but also that slight bitter undertone that undercut the initial sweet taste and raised it up to a ( ... )

Hee...so now you're melted and depressed...I should put a health warning on this thing.

I promise you a happy ending...but until then I shall pass you some Smiths CDs to help the angsting ;P.

lol. tsh..I guess the Smith failed to help the angsting then. Although I never know about them...are they happy, are they sad?

You've got Marr's fantastically perky guitar parts and then Morrissey's depressive lyrics, so by all rights it should be...em...an emotional compromise. Most confusing. Perhaps Morrissey's solo stuff would work better for the angst...although I must admit to not having heard much of it - I like the contrast.

And while I admire people who can end things on a low - don't think I've got the will to do it myself...I want them to be happy damnit! ;D

I am on holiday now so I shall do my absolute best to get this fixed as soon as possible....although it probably won't happen in the next part *hides from projectile vegetables* but yes, I should be a bit more speedy from here until the end.

Thank you for reading and commenting! :D

Good...wouldn't like Pete to feel left out of the cuddling.

A three person cuddle...then they can't argue over who is loved more ;P

Oh no ... ohnoohnoohno, make it better. Please.

I love how much Carl confuses Peter in this fic (which I have just read from part 1 to now!), how all his contradictions make it so difficult for Peter to trust him but he can't help getting drawn in anyway despite being so frequently baffled by him. Crossed wires indeed.

Hmm..yes, Carl is one confusing little so-and-so in this fic ;P. It makes me happy that you spotted the (kind-of) relevance of the title, as I spent ages casting around for one (I'm not the best at naming things) only to come up with that rather pathetic effort for that reason.

Anyway, welcome on the ficwagon! And I shall make it better - I promise!

Aw, this is so sad. And poor Peter is such a seething mass of contradictions, not knowing what he wants, not knowing what to do, being totally inept in dealing with Carl. They are both so very lovely, and this is really played out amazingly. Thanks, love. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
