A/N: I got this idea quite early in the month, but never had the time to write it. Today I finally sat down and realized - I could not remember my idea anymore exactly. :/
Just the ending remained and no matter what I tried I was unable to get my idea back. So I wrote this and as expected am totally unsatisfied with it. *sigh*
Next time I will try to sit down and write it immediatly - this is no fun. ;(

Watson must be the most unlucky man on Earth.

Normaly Watson - despite Holmes’ teasing - was not a man for such melodramatics, but today he made an expection.
The date, Friday the 13th, had no meaning for Watson and even so Holmes made some sarcastic remarks about people’s behaviour (Mrs. Hudson made sure to wear her lucky charm), Watson did not even think much about it.

Until he stepped out of the door of 221b.

The door had not even closed behind him, when a bedraggled man ran into him, throwing his bag to the ground and making his injured leg twinge in protest.
A few of his medicene bottles broke and his stethoscope got several scratches.

The day only went downhill after that and was filled with rude and thankless people, thievery, a painful leg and shoulder, being drenched by a cab running through a puddle and thousands other little things, that normaly would not grate this much on his nerves.
But today, Watson thought sadly, was just a very, very bad and unlucky day.

So it was no real surprise that evening, when he and Holmes were trying to catch a gang, that one man was able to sneak up behind Watson and hit him heavily over the head.
When all went dark Watson just hoped that he would wake up hours later and this wretchful day would be over.

Conciousness came slowly and painfully and Watson sighed when he recognized the ceiling of a hospital room over his head.
Turning slightly to look ot the window Watson was only able to see the dark sky and thus did not know how much time passed.

Just as Watson was about to turn back and go back to sleep, his eyes fell on the sleeping private detective at the side of his bed, lounging quite uncomfortable in one of those horrible hospital chairs.
Dark lines and bruises covered Holmes' visible skin and there were also bandages around his hands; proof of their latest fight.

The position and the wounds must be painful, but nevertheless Holmes stayed at Watson's side, unwilling to leave.
A small smile tugged at Watson's lips and he closed his eyes with one final thought before going back to sleep.

Watson is the luckiest man on Earth.
