This vignette is nothing special and I am just glad to have finished todays prompt. It should be placed after... ehm... I don't know. oO Just 11 stories so far and I already lost control over them... *looks through her stories again* Ah, it takes place after To follow, but as always can be read on its own.

Holmes carefully watches how Watson settles into his chair with a sigh.

The white bandage around his head is a stark reminder of their latest case. Holmes still shudders just thinking about Watson lying still in the darkness after going over the edge.

“Holmes?” Holmes looks up surprised at the voice of his friend and Watson watches him silently. “Are you alright?”

“Of course I am,” Holmes grunts. “I was not the one falling several feet down.”
“Nor was I the one who was shot,” Watson counters lightly, deep shadows filling his eyes.

Holmes raises on hand to his chest were the impact of the bullet left a big bruise, but otherwise left his skin untouched. All thanks to a silver cigarette case which was given to him as a gift a long time ago…

With a considering look at Watson, who was still patiently watching him, Holmes sighs. It was time that they talked about it. And Watson already knew it.

“It was a foolish thing to do, Watson. You could have been easily killed tackling that man.” “As you could have been easily killed rushing that armed man,” Watson says and Holmes shakes his head. “It is not about me…”

“It is.”

Holmes looks up at the small confession and is taken aback by the deep pain in Watson’s eyes.

“And you can never fault me for my reactions concerning your life, my friend,” Watson tells him with a firm voice and Holmes sighs.

“That does not stop me from pointing them out.”

Watson smiles gently. “Just as I will always point out your faults, Holmes. That’s what friends are for. Pointing out faults…”

“… and accepting them,” Holmes continues softly. Watson nods and returns his eyes to the fire. For a moment there is silence, until…

“Still, it was foolish of you.”

“Holmes…”
