Falling

Author's Note: Ah, a nice prompt for my stories. :) And I even got a connection to the last one! xD This story happens (almost directly) before Misty Sway, but as always can be read on its own.
Sorry for the unimaginative title, 'am still tired. *yawn*

A loud shot prompts Watson to turn around and as his eyes fall on his dear friend he swears he can feel his heart fall into a endless pit and shatter to a thousand pieces.
Holmes falls back, his eyes wide open in surprise and one hand flies to the gunshot wound in his chest - directly above his heart.
Watson can only stare numbly as his dearest friend, the most important person in his life, falls to the ground and lies still, so utterly and terrifying still.
He does not need to check to know that he is already dead.
But as the criminal steps forward and levels his gun at the sprawled figure to shoot again Watson snarls and jumps forward, ignoring the pain in his bad leg.
He was not able to protect Holmes in life, but he will protect him in death.
He grabs for the gun and a fight starts between the two men to gain the upper hand. Watson does not think about anything, in his mind he hears the shot and sees the fall of Holmes over and over again.
He failed Holmes… He failed…
Their fight brings the men to the edge of the platform and with a final push they tumble over it.
As Watson falls there is only one thought: He will follow Holmes.
And then there is only darkness.
