He isn't actually in the book, so don't get your hopes up too high. The song "Hot Potato" figures prominently in book 2, however, and I noted in series 1 that they ascribed the song to Richard's group, so I was hoping that he would appear in series 2. I have no idea how big his role will be, but I'm hoping for something fairly substantial, of course.

Billy fans tend to complain about Billy's career, wishing it were more like Dom's. @.@

I love Billy's career. I love that he does plays and smaller films, as well as big. I love that he does audio books -- if only Dom would do an audio book! -- and radio plays. I love that he's doing this. I'm pleased as punch.

They're different people with different priorities, I don't think it's surprising that they have careers that are very different too. In some ways I think Dom is a little too intent on getting high-profile roles. Billy seems to be a bit more laid-back and as a result we get all the lovely "little" things like the Brookmyre audiobook and the Misterstourworm CD and the radio plays. Of course that doesn't mean I wouldn't love to see him in some lead roles (I would be squeeing from here to the moon if someone offered him the role of Jack Parlabane in a film or TV series) but I'm happy that he has steady, if low-key work
