Author's Notes:
1. See the Guide to the SGINA-verse for essential background information. (It's the AO3 version because I've split it into chapters and I can't do that on the original DW/LJ entry.)
2. PU1 is still up but I'm making major revisions to Chapter 4 so I've marked it private for the time being. All you need to know here is that Sam and Gabriel have been bonded for six years and work for the Federal Law Enforcement Agency.

Series Summary: In a more militarised and regimented world than ours, Bobby took the boys in when their father fell sick. Dean finished high school then joined the army while Sam ended up at Stanford on a scholarship. Both tested highly for guide potential in childhood and attended guide classes at school, but neither of them formed a bond. In this series (Paths Unconformable), both Sam and Dean eventually find their sentinels, through somewhat unusual paths.

Story Summary: The USA is engaged in yet another proxy war against the USSR, this time in Croatoa, in central Asia. Dean has been captured by Croatoan forces, and it's up to Castiel and Anna Milton, one of the army's best sentinel teams, to rescue him. When that doesn’t work out as planned, Dean and Castiel have to help each other to safety and then deal with the aftermath.
