Roy sketch

Anticipating FMA Big Bang, and considering I have never done any FMA fanart, I figured it was best I started practicing. At the moment I want to see how it turns out without any references but I'm sure I'll have to copy manga pictures later, to get the feel of the characters.

Of course, I had to start with Roy, because he's my favourite character.

Oh, that's a very nice sketch there without any references. Looking forward to seeing more FMA drawings from you! Curious, which story/stories you had claimed? You probably claimed mine. XD; Also, if you need manga pictures for reference, I know a couple manga scanlation sites you can try out.

Thanks :) I'm curious about how the characters would look in my style (if I even have one), that's why I'm avoiding references so far. Next will be a kid!Roy sketch :)

I claimed a RoyEd one, a Royai one where there's a serial killer after Roy and another Royai/HughesRoy one about Roy's life. It was a difficult choice, there were many stories that sounded interesting (I almost chose one about Roy Riza and Maes during Ishval).

Don't worry, after I re-discovered my love for FMA the first thing I did was save all the scanlations :D

Ah, cool cool. Sadly none of them are mine LOL. My story is Royai with Roy and Riza dealing with Ishval and Amestris's change in the government and political system. Someone probably claimed it then as the summary for that story got taken done, heh. Good luck with doing art for those stories, though!

Thank you! I already reviewed some of your stories so you know I love your writing ;) I can't wait to start drawing (once the exams are behind me). Choosing what to draw will be difficult, because the correct answer is EVERYTHING!

Not bad for a first attempt. You should get some references tho 'cause you don't have his face quite right yet. Roy has a more rounded face than you gave him. Also, I have to say it, his upper lip looks like he has a moustache and that sorta made me cringe. Arakawa gave Roy that godawful pencil thin moustache at the end of the manga and it just killed the character for me. Keep practicing! You'll get there. :)

Though, in Arakawa's defence, Roy didn't have a moustache in the manga. That abomination was Brotherhood only >
