Here's an interesting pair of questions, nicked from janegalt.net:

1. Back when you were younger and first getting into SF, did you prefer Isaac Asimov or Robert Heinlein?

2. Would you describe yourself nowadays as more of a liberal or conservative?

Reading the comments here and on the original page, I think it's pretty clear that few readers of Asimov and Heinlein fall easily into liberal vs conservative. It's a false dichotomy, because so many people are strongly liberal on some issues and strongly conservative on others.

There were some great 'if you liked that, you'll like this' suggestions if you read the other page that way.

And no, I'm not a liberal or a conservative, although I preferred Heinlein.

When I was a kid, probably Heinlein, though these days most of his characters strike me as highly unpleasant. Neither was really my favourite.

I'm mostly liberal, in a conservative kind of way.

My favourites were more in the line of Roger Zelazny, Poul Anderson, and Clifford Simak. The university in The Goblin Reservation has spoiled me for the real life variety.
