I'm attempting to reorganize this journal, so here it is... the FAQ. I couldn't think of a ton of questions, so if you have any or if you think of any that would be useful on this page, just comment and let me know.
1.
What program do you use to make your icons?2.
I don't have a graphics program, what can I use to make icons?3.
Do I have to credit you?4.
How do I credit you?5.
How do I credit you for a layout or other graphic?6.
Can I use one of your icons on my Greatest Journal/forum/site?7.
I'm nominating one of your icons! Is that okay?8.
Can I friend this journal?9.
Where did you get the brush/texture/font in that icon?10.
Can I edit your icons?11.
How can I see all your icons?12.
Do you make anything besides icons?13.
Will you affiliate with me/my icon journal/my community?14.
Are you taking requests?15.
I know you always say no hotlinking, but what does that mean? 1. What program do you use to make your icons?
As of right now, I primarily use Adobe Photoshop 6.0 and Adobe ImageReady 3.0.
Back to top? 2. I don't have a graphics program, what can I use to make icons?
There are a number of good, free graphics programs out there, but what I recommend is the
GIMP. It's just as ridiculously complex as Photoshop or PSP, and it even has its own
tutorial community on LJ!
Back to top? 3. Do I have to credit you?
I require credit for all the graphics I make. For more information on my credit policy, please see the
rules.
Back to top? 4. How do I credit you?
On Livejournal, you can credit me in the comments of your userpics. For example....
On places outside LJ, you can credit me wherever is convenient in the same, but without the LJ user tag - just type "by alapsuscalami at Livejournal", or better yet, link back to my journal.
Back to top? 5. How do I credit you for a layout or other graphic?
For a layout or a header, credit in your userinfo or the sidebar of your layout ("Made by
alapsuscalami") is perfect. For a friends only banner, it's basically the same thing... your userinfo, the sidebar of your layout, or the post where you have the banner.
Back to top? 6. Can I use one of your icons on my Greatest Journal/forum/site?
Sure! I'd appreciate credit, too. For more information on how to credit my work outside of LJ, see
question four.
Back to top? 7. I'm nominating one of your icons! Is that okay?
Of course! You can nominate my work anywhere you want, and I'd love it if you'd let me know.
Back to top? 8. Can I friend this journal?
I'd be thrilled if you did, so feel free! I periodically add back everyone who friends me because I'm slightly obsessive about keeping the numbers even.
Back to top? 9. Where did you get the brush/texture/font in that icon?
Chances are your answer lies somewhere in my
resource page. For fonts, check out my
font guide. If you can't find your answer there, ask me or ask over at
fontaddicts.
Back to top? 10. Can I edit your icons?
No. Unless it's a question of animating a bunch of my icons together, in which case you can do that yourself or I can do it for you.
Back to top? 11. How can I see all your icons?
I don't have all of my icons in one post. However, I do have them
organized by type and fandom, or you can check the
memories.
Back to top? 12. Do you make anything besides icons?
Yes! I make wallpapers, headers, layouts, friends only banners, and mood themes, just not as often.
Back to top? 13. Will you affiliate with me/my icon journal/my community?
The answer is probably yes if you ask at the
Affiliate Post.
Back to top? 14. Are you taking requests?
As of right now, I am not taking requests. This is definitely subject to change.
Back to top? 15. I know you always say no hotlinking, but what does that mean?
The short of this is, if you're taking one of my graphics, please save it on your own computer (right click -> Save Picture As) and upload it to your own server, such as a website or a
Photobucket account. As long as you do this, hotlinking won't be an issue. My policy on hotlinking can be found
here in the rules. For more on what hotlinking is, please read
this.
colorfilter also has a great post explaining it
here.
