I know I've been bad about posting here, but bekah's been keeping up the house side and I've been feeling somewhat stressed, so I haven't had much to say. The below is a retelling of my last night's experience, warning strong language and graphic content

There have been some really fine gut bugs floating around Houston this year. I had one that I literally thought I was dying and it sucked all of the potassium right out of me. The second one just made me miserable. My physician reports that I am not alone.

Do I get a badge, or perhaps a trophy? Is there a secret handshake?

Thanks for the tip about potassium, I'll go try a banana.

well i never did like ringworld anyway. earthsea is worrisome though i didn't know they'd done a first one. some books are like dune, you shouldnt' even try.

as for the alcohol, you'd probably throw up more the night of, remember less of it the next day, but have a whopping headache. sterling recomendation, no?

anyway sorry you felt ill, glad you feel better.

Remaking Earthsea? Like LeGuin's Earthsea? Oh dear. Was there a film/TV adaptation already? I can actually imagine The Tombs of Atuan as a really good movie if it were done with the special effects almost nil and really, really strong acting. I can almost imagine a younger Natalie Portman as Tenar... you have to completely delete Queen Amidala from your mind before you can start to think about that, though... The books that involve dragons they ought not to attempt; dragons LeGuin-style are even more special-effects resistant than anything in Tolkien and I would probably only accept them in non-Western animation.

I agree about the dragon comments. Although the farthest shore could be made to work. I love the earthsea novels, and they definitely have the depth needed for a screenplay, we're just lacking competent casts/directors right now. Kinda sad, but still true.
