Is it just me, or is it not very feminist to blame any choices a woman makes that you disagree with on a man, or men in general?

Some women can be just as stupid, cruel, or short-sighted as some men can be; blaming their poor choices on the men around them implies that they have no free will of their own unless they're doing something you approve ( Read more... )

annoyance, do not want, serious business

I think you've hit the point I was trying to get organized in my head. There's a line between being influenced by institutional sexism and having any choice that's not a violation of the norm being forced conforming to the norm?

I really do want to see what she looks like.

Ignore me, I fail. :p

I could do with calf-length ones, shorter ones always result in me flashing people when I put my legs up.

Stupidity is genderless -- fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it.

Bones icon! :D

I noticed when the radical feminist started yelling that anyone who tried to hold a woman at least partially responsible for her behavior and reactions in a bad situation is an asshole, because OBVIOUSLY she'd been BRAINWASHED and there was NO WAY that she could have done anything else. :| (Especially since no one is blaming the woman for the situation itself-- well, one guy was, but he got dogpiled and seems to be sulking. )

Of course, this same woman got outraged over the fact we were getting outraged over child rape instead of over the fact that the news article being discussed didn't use the word "rape" in its headline. (Nevermind that, looking at the laws of the state the paper and crime were both based in, it would be legally liable for calling it rape before the rapists were convicted.)

Boonnnnes I love Bones to death; I'm eating up the novels as well xD

Ugh, that's so obnoxious. What a lot of radical feminists (or radicals of any group at all) don't seem to understand is, that while discrimination is a form of inequality, demanding special treatment and benefits just because you're a member of this group is also inequality.

I'm in love with the show, so much~ except when it does stupid things like... everything with Zack (Zach? However it's officially spelled) and the failgasm of the polyamorous!Bones episode. BUT OTHERWISE.

Yeaaaaah. :| She's. A BIT CRAZY. And has been nominated for Trolldom, but I'm pretty sure she's not actually trolling.

Sexism, discrimination, etc. All of it is stupid.
Why can't people just get along nowadays? D:

Because people are sucky, silly, and selfish as a whole, and some are worse about the first an the last than everyone else.

Man, way to sound like a misanthropist, Alana.

GAH. THIS. Thisthisthisthisthisthisthis. *FLAIL*

It really pisses me off when people do this. Or when you meet the 'feminists' that seem to think feminism = putting down as many men as possible. Yeah, no. This is why a lot of people treat feminism as a dirty word now. DX

Apparently the concept of equality is just too much for some people.

Yeah, I hate it when people go all "I'M NOT A FEMINIST BUT I BELIEVE IN EQUALITY" and I'm all "DUDE IT'S NOT LIKE RACISM OR AGEISM OR SEXISM OR ANY OTHER -ISM, IT'S OKAY TO BE A FEMINIST" and arrrgh. *facepalm* You don't have to be ragingly crazy to support the idea of equality between the sexes!

Well, keep in mind that the concept of feminism has been thouroghly dragged through the mud by the kind of people you are raging over here. Unfortunately those who shout the loudest and have the most outrageous ideas will always be able to define a concept to the general public. At this stage, feminism is seen as the opposite to chauvinism in many places; i.e a way for women to get ahead based on their gender.

Not saying that is right, but it's hard to change these things once they take root. Maybe we should just come up with a new name for the original concept such as "equalism" or "justice-ism" to avoid confusion. And then shoot anyone who misues it.
