also are we still the only two people in all of fandom that have played MGA2

because if so I might want to write a synopsis of the game and characters so the fic is accessible to other people (if these ideas ever get to the postable stage). 8|9

OKAY SO FIRST OF ALL I NEED TO SECOND EVERYTHING FLY SAID. Are we clear on that? Do we agree that Fly is awesome? Good.

I'd also like to add that DIALOGUE is a great way to get the ball on a plot rolling. Get two of the important characters together, and let them just start talking to each other. It doesn't matter if the conversation ends up in the story proper or not -- most of the time, it won't, because leaving it in would give away too much. However, it can prove a really useful tool for filling out the plot, because if you know WHAT the characters want to say, then you can start thinking about WHY they want to say it. And that leads to motivations, themes, all that awesome stuff.

If you can get the characters to fight, that makes the process even easier! :D

It took me a minute to parse that sentence, because the Thanksgiving rush is beginning at work and I am exhausted. I actually thought for a moment that you meant one of the characters should be hiding from the other, and I thought, "Well, that would be appropriate for MGS, but I don't see how it's applicable to anything else..."

But yeah, you're right! That sounds like the kind of thing one of my writing or acting teachers would have said. "This character is motivated by the desire to conceal Metal Gear's existence from the other character, who has been hot on its trail for months now..."
