Did they teach you emergency maneuvers with pylons (traffic cones, I think you might call them) set up and you had to enter and then swerve? Just curious. I used to teach driver education and that's how we taught them. Too bad you're not learning on snow.
Sorry...that previous comment was from me. For some reason I am no longer automatically signed in to lj anymore. Maybe because I'm not on as often...not sure.
I think lj just likes to randomly sign people out sometimes. It's weird.
We do all our learning on the road over here. No traffic cones (although police training might use them, haha). No, my instructor just took me down a quiet road and I did the emergency stops there.
Aaaw I haven't been driving since FOREVER, basically. :/ I haven't had time. I think I'm ready to take that driving test soon, as soon as I've learned how to park the car properly :P
I always told my driver's ed students that being a good, safe, knowledgeable driver is far more important than being able to park correctly. I know it's hard to pass the test if you can't park worth a damn but it's so much more crucial to know what you're doing when you're in driving situations what with the decision-making factor and whatnot. I hope you won't spend too much time focusing on parking is what I'm trying to say. That's a lot of people's downfall in test situations. I'm not assuming it will be a problem for you...it's just some advice based on lots of experience. Practice, practice, practice driving in town. :-)
