In some ways this was a cursed event for us, and that perhaps reflects on why I didn’t really enjoy myself. The plan of take 5 people in 3 cars became 4 in 1 as crisis after catastrophe hit Aylesbury. ( Read more... )
My shoulder is fine now and odds are I would be hurt by either opponant, that's just the way duels go. You can't pull blows well when you're fighting for speed. My main annoyance about that is that it was my neck which hurt immediately and so I thought that was where you hit first - I'm glad you won since I'd have hated to win by even accidental cheating.
*hugs* I don't know what to do about the feeling down. There's a possiblity that Karnak is being seen a bit as a characature of himself and this is what's causing you problems, but its rather difficult to tell.
I wrote a longer rambling post, which I decided wasn't actually productive. Instead what I'll say is, it sounds like you're where I was two years ago. I know we don't talk as much since then, but if you want to talk it through I'm here if you need me.
Generally speaking, I would say that if you're not enjoying an aspect of the game, then change that aspect. We pay a lot of money to play, and it should be fun. Perhaps try finding new, very different things for Karnak to do? If that doesn't work I'd suggest simply changing character.
I know that it's much easier to write than to do, but I've seen it work plenty times - most notably with Charlie, who was miserable playing Elanor/Blodwyn and had a brilliant time playing Jessie almost immediately.
Aspect is perhaps the tricky thing, so much has changed in Karnak's life, Kerr, Ilsa, Alfhildr, Polly, Squish, Sid and Tara are around so much less these days or not at all, I find it hard to have a default comfort zone.
Polly/Karnak papered over those cracks simply because when I was bored the two of us could meet up and just do something silly and that would make things better and the other stuff went away.
Might it be worth taking on a temporary character at a small event or two? That way you could see if you suddenly enjoy events more without actually having to give up on Karnak? If you do decide to stick with Karnak then playing someone else for an event might give you an idea of what you'd like to change IC, or even just give you a break and some new enthusiasm for him?
Sadly not as the ritual is saturday afternoon and I need to organise a lot of prep in the run up. Since the result of this ritual could also have massive consequences then again I'd need to stay
THe Parli, if I don't do it I am potentially saying I've retired already as I promised I'd do it, and if Avalon got broke as a result of the ritual then Karnak would be interesting to say the least ;) So I think Playing the lions is important
Mostly happy but, sometimes it crosses over to Oc sensitivities, changing that would be tricky as its almost my autopilot setting for him, not insurmountable though.
I've been thinking about what to do and there are a few people I'd need to talk to to decide what I want to as I'm not the forst person to be here.
Believe it or not you're not the first person to suggest the ordr for a next character ;)

How to change it is tricky, its who his public persona is and the rest doesn't seem to get recognised
