Those who know and those think they know

Earlier this week I saw a news headline which caught my eye because its wording hit a nerve in that carefully calculated way that editors want their journalists to aim for.

The truly crucial bit, was of course, just thrown in at the end: ""We don't just barge into other countries and say we're here, we're going to tell you how to run things," ( ( Read more... )

Current mood/sitation: Sick (again)

OK, I agree with you. But I guess that doesn't help anyone. The question is what can we do?

I seem to recall you saying that to me once. I was complaining about UWA guild politics/politicians and you told me to do something about it or stop complaining. I will always remember that, and try to stick by it...

... but fail. I'm only human. But I will try. It is amazing how a very few people can make a difference. I was chatting to someone from the WA Communist Party last week. And people from Greens WA of course. And yes, the communist was wearing red. :)

I've decided Australia needs more communists to shift politics to the left. My theory is that One Nation shifted it to the right and it stayed there. Therefore I am renouncing my fence sitting namby pamby democratic socialism and embracing communist socialism. I purchased The Manifesto and with a little help from my political adviser I am making headway!

I've also decided that Perth is self-serving, money-worshipping, power-seeking, NIMBY-sprouting and more I'm sure. The realisation struck me last night - which is the first time I've put passionate words to the reason I left the corporate clutch.

"I've decided Australia needs more communists to shift politics to the left. My theory is that One Nation shifted it to the right and it stayed there."Agreed. The biggest obstacle for the left and the greatest help for advancing the agenda of rightists, is the selfish, "me"-centric nature of human nature. The right uses greed (and fear) to advance their agenda by appealing to people's baser natures ( ... )
