I think we have new rival to the "Special K" ads in the category of "jaw-droppingly gendered". Victoria Pendleton, a UK Olympic track cyclist is doing a series of promos for Hovis, the central conceit of which is that wholemeal bread as a healthy breakfast. So far, so good!

At a slight tangent to the main thrust of your vitriol-stream on this (just take it as read that I pretty much agree with your central theme closely enough that I can't even bring myself to be sarcastic about it*), the thing that annoys me most about the whole Special K weight-loss-marketing thing, is that above and beyond the general absurdity of the whole predicate, Special K is more or less the highest calorie, highest fat cereal that Kellogs produce in the part of their range that is not actually coated with sugar! As a low cal/low fat cereal, Rice Krispies make far more sense!

* Although that said, in your comment on that blog post, you used the word "dang". "Dang"?!! Do you have a secret desire to be Yosemite Sam or something?!

Yeah, similar "food technology" too, I gather. Fewer calories per cubic centimetre, due to our secret ingredient: air! Doubtless they'd offer a similar "defence"; if it weren't so "yummy", and we didn't aggressively market it in the most excruciatingly "yummy-mummy-baiting" terms, the poor dears wouldn't eat any breakfast at all!

Maybe I'm channelling my inner Texan. Y'all u]ah cotton-pickin' varmints! Or was uncharacteristically moved by the spirit of Bowdler when showing up at an unfamiliar blog. Mystery to myself and others.
