Sci-fi reco

I just finished Quantum Thief books (aka Jean le Flambeur trillogy) by Hannu Rajaniemi and I want to say that I haven't had this much fun with a sci-fi book since I discovered China Mieville.
And the best part is - the quality doesn't deviate much between the books - I felt like all three books were equally strong.

Stephenson can be very different. Lately, Stephenson is not like Stephenson:)
What Stephenson qualities are you looking for?

Having thought of it, he is not much like Stephenson. He mostly avoids exposition - Stephenson sometimes puts info dumps when they aren't needed, Rajaniemi skips info-dumps almost completely, depending on his reader to be motivated enough to figure out the meaning of book-local terms from the context and to google unfamiliar science terms

You know how Anathem had a big dictionary in the back? Imagine having to do without that dictionary completely.
