The book on knit kimono, is the publisher Interweave? I've seen one by them at Kinokuniya and I keep being tempted to buy it even though I'm really a crochet person. Of course the amigurumi stuff keep tempting me too. I just haven't figured out how to read Japanese crochet instructions. The symbols have me thrown off.
It is indeed! :) My mom's a weaver from way back, so she keeps up with their various publications; when she found out I'd finally got the hang of knitting, she went a little nuts sending me links. :)
I've seen a few legends for Japanese stitch instructions online, but I haven't bothered to save any. Doh! If I run across any more in the future, which I'm sure I will, I'll be sure to send a link your way. I love the idea of making little crochet people!
thanks for pointing out swiss_kun's fics! I just read her most recent one, why suki loves sokka, and it was bloody brilliant! Honestly, I've never paid much attention to Sokka, but that little gem really did him justice! I love bff fics. Make sure you read this one, if you haven't already.
Sokka is just wonderful, I love that he's not "just the token normal", but he's so much more. Swiss does a fabulous job with characterization, and I just can't get enough of her stuff, especially the Sokka & Zuko BFFs. :)
I read 'Male Bonding' yesterday, and it was pretty darn funny! :D Oh boys, being boys. You know, I can't believe I'm saying this but I am finding good fic on FFNet. :O If I get up the gumption, I'm going to put together a rec post in the not too distant future.
LOL yes, sandwich! We didn't see him leave with a whole heckuva lot, did we? *giggle* I'll keep an eye out for that as I watch it all over again (oh I'm such a nerd, but I can't help it!). I wind up laughing and snorting loudly quite a lot, too. :D
I'll definitely put a post together once I get a good selection. If you're in need of something to read right now, you can always check what's already on my fave list on my FFNet acct (link is on the sidebar).
Eeee story!! ^_^ I'm always in favour of having a beta, just because I always get valuable insights from what the reader really liked, and what they pointed out that needed work. But that'll mean it'll be longer before I get to read it... hmm... *torn!*
bahh! taking back one row is nuffin. XD you will also get used to how common it is for knits to be patterned on the knit row and plain on the purl row and when they're not is when you better not drink.
BUT I'M LOVING BLEACH THESE DAYS! THE STORY IS UNFOLDING BEAUTIFULLY!
HAHA! That's so true. Next time I'm drinking and knitting, I'll have to make sure to print out my pattern will all the lines edited in. :)
I still love Bleach, but I have been waiting so long for this bit of the story, I'm squirming in my chair wanting to see how this comes out. I think I'm more impatient than disappointed, really. Ulquiorra so far is acting in such an interesting manner!
Hm, Bleach. I pulled the usual trick a month or two ago, where I stop reading until I hear that it's finally picked up. Then it's just a matter of finding where I left off and breezing through the chapters of very little content to finally get to something exciting (and by exciting you know what I mean. Not just a whole lot of fighting with the occasional speechbubble).
Mmmm Minekura art makes the best icons. I am so tempted to start Saiyuki.
*snort* I'm okay with being used for art if you're okay with me being occasionally broken. I don't remember the last time I supplied you arts XD;;
Nng Saiyuki. I'm going to, I can't resist. Soon. When I gather up the stones, because I'm not a fan of starting a manga that requires a lot of catching up from the get-go *is lazy*. That isnt to say, of course, that it's a bad thing, coz it means more yay before the inevitable "when's more coming? D:" comes. :P
It's... been quite a while, gosh. Definitely due. :D
There's not a ton of catching up to do with Saiyuki. At least, it doesn't feel like a ton, because it's broken out into a couple series with nice story arcs. Just go read it already. :D There, laziness taken care of, all you gotta do is click the link. :P
Knitting was like mystical voodoo to me for years, until it finally clicked this fall.
The shawl is going to be awesome, I think... though last night I had a major cock up and now I'm going to need expert help in fixing it. What does one do when one accidentally jerks the needles and drops ten stitches and unravels uncountable rows of holey pattern? I think I'm going to have to pick backwards, because repairing that in the spot is likely beyond me. Doh! It's probably for the best anyway, as I seem to have either gained or lost two stitches somewhere that I shouldn't have. (Yeah, I know I said I can follow a pattern, but sometimes my hands are less smart than my brain. :P)
You should knit one with a Soul Society Division logo on the back.
Ahaha you know me so well. I was actually pondering that already. :D

Uh, no, I am totally not using you for your art, ILU even if you don't draw for me. ^_^
In all honesty, I think you'd probably enjoy Saiyuki. It's fun, a bit gritty, and there's a decent story running through the daily adventures.
