some tail lights are steady during running light, and blink at braking. Overdriving the LEDs makes 'em brighter. I agree that it's both neat and annoying. The worst I have seen were some christmas lights.

LED's are taking over. I'm the most excited about their potential to bring fluorescence microscopy to the masses, and thus the associated medical diagnostics to poor or far flung places.

And for pretty, blinky things, too :)
