In which I complain a lot but it's not really whining I guess

Goddammit. I was going to spend today translating that goddamn Vesperia gag manga, and then I had to go check badbadbathhouse and there is a prompt I want to write like burning. God. Dammit.

On a related note, P4 fandom creeps me out. Seriously what is wrong with you people.

On a related related note, I really wanted to respond to this post with "Yeah, I ( Read more... )

fanfic, moving pictures, persona 4, japanese, weak to lolz, tales of vesperia

~*GLORIOUS NIPPON*~

I've actually compare/contrasted videos of the Japanese version of P4 on Youtube and the translation stays staggeringly close to the original. Things are definitely localized, but always in a good way. Random example, the famous "would you please kick the shit out of me, Kanji" line is the more generic Japanese insult "tsumari are da, korosareteetsu koto sune" which is basically "so you want me to kill you?" There are other small things too, like changing the submarine animal cracker to the penguin, or changing bishounenTeddie from speaking English to speaking French, but it's nothing so OMG MAJOR BIG DEAL that it would require a whole new script translation.

Phoenix Wright is a more extreme example, where everything is a Japanese pun that would never ever make sense to someone who isn't fluent.

The prompt I'm eyeing is the Soji/Yosuke in the rain one.

*blinks at that mayonakaTV post* Uh. Yeah, I agree with your desired response.

I freakin' love the localization for P4. Anything that has ANYONE say "Epic fail!" is OK by me. (With bonus points since it was Yosuke.) And, yanno. Lifejournals. And My Places.
