The SRT truck pulls away again, and the SRT guys mill around the power pole a bit. Eventually they, too, settle into postures of waiting. One of the men has some chunk of metal that he uses as a makeshift stool. Another crouches down on his haunches. A third shifts from foot to foot, while the fourth keeps watch down into the yard. Humans - can't live with them, wouldn't exist without them.

This guy must have had some hideous pain to do what he did. We'll probably never know.

By the way, I've been reading LJ posts about once every two or three months. I just found out I have a new friend called "I ate the crust," or something like that?

Glad the story ended safely for the kid: not the sort of excitement one wants in one's neighborhood.

I'm glad that the child, the officers, the wife, and the neighbors are safe. I'm even glad the guy is relatively OK; I hope he gets whatever help or punishment (depending on his circumstances) is appropriate.
