Flashback
“Ah, otou-san, look our youngest child now.” A woman said staring at her son.
“He’s really a man now.” A man standing beside her replied. He and his wife watched their third child being dressed and make-up.
“What does it mean? Am I a man since I was born?” Their son protested as the stylist fixed the cutting of his white tuxedo.
“No, you’re a brat little boy back then.” His older brother said and made the groom pouted. All the people in the room smiled softly seeing his act.
“A little brother who only has soccer to think in his mushroom head.” His older sister added teasing him.
“But, he made us proud of his angelic voice.” His mother said firmly showing her smile.
“You’re right. He’s doing well in the agency. I honestly had a little worry over him during the first years.” His father replied.
The older brother nodded. “He always made us worry about him. Moreover, he liked to stay at hospital.”
“I don’t have any intention to stay long there at first.” He protested again. “You’re one of who caused it.”
His older brother glanced at him. “Hai. I had apologized to you, right?” He remembered when he unintentionally made his little brother nearly closed his eyes forever.
“I don’t remember it.” He answered playfully.
“You…” His brother said looking irritated.
“Hey, stop it already.” Their mother broke her sons fight up.
The older sighed. He only glared at his brother. If it had had not his wedding day, he would have ruined his brother look. The younger only smiled devilishly. He seemed happy could win over his brother.
“OK. He’s done.” The stylist said.
“Kou-chan, turn around.” His older sister asked the groom to turn around. Yabu did what she asked. He turned around while his family watched his look.
“Perfect.” His brother said clapping his hands.
“So, we leave now. Excuse me.” The stylists nodded their heads to the Yabu’s before they left the room.
“Arigatou gozaimashita.” The Yabu’s said in harmony and nodded as well.
“It’s like yesterday we raised him. Now, look at him. He’s going to have his own family.” Yabu’s mother said sounding a little sad.
Yabu’s father nodded showing his agreement. “Yes, but it’s the way it is. He will come to this phase after all. I’m happy to have time to see him like this.”
“You’re going to be a real man, Kouta. Bear on your mind, you have a huge responsibility from now on.” Yabu’s brother advised him.
“Make her happy, Kou-chan.” His sister added smiling.
“You have to lead and protect her and your family later.” His brother advised him.
Her mother added what her children advised to their brother, “Love her properly, Kou-chan. She deserves it.”
Yabu looked at his family. The family where he’s being raised. A warm family. Now, he was going to follow his sibling steps. Having his own family. And he wanted to create a nice and warm family as well with the woman he chose. “I understand, okaa-san. I’ll give my best to make her safe and happy.” He replied with a confidence in his voice.
“It’s common if you someday have a fight. But, don’t lose to your emotion.” His father continued until a loud voice from the door was heard.
The door was being knocked. It revealed Yabu’s band mates. Takaki and Daiki smiled to the family as they walked in.
“So, we’ll leave you now. I think some guests already come. ” Yabu’s father said and the others followed.
“Ah, I can’t still believe it. I’m going to marry today.” Yabu said as Daiki made himself comfortable on the couch. Meanwhile Takaki stood beside him.
“Nande?” Daiki asked.
“We always thought Takaki will be the first one among us.” He replied looking at Takaki who frowned at him.
“We don’t know what destiny God makes for all of us.” Takaki said calmly making his two best friends surprised. It’s not usual for him saying something as wise as what he just said. “I cited it from the latest manga I read.” He said smiling like a little innocent child.
Yabu dropped his jaw and shook his head. He was about being impressed with a rarely-wise words from the younger man, but Takaki, himself, ruined it. “Your love to read manga hasn’t changed at all.”
There were actually many hidden meanings behind Takaki’s words. Maybe it’s only Daiki who understood since Yabu did not have any clues of what was going on. Takaki did not want to let Yabu or Hikaru know his problem. As their best friend, Takaki knew how care they were. He did not wish to make them worry.
Daiki only gave his smile to Takaki. Through the small caring, he hoped Takaki knew that he would always there for him, giving his support to his best friend. The youngest man understood how complex and complicated the problem Takaki faced.
“So, what are you feeling now, Yabu-kun?” Daiki asked trying to forget the problem for a while. At least, just for today. On Yabu and Hikaru’s wedding day. The precious day for his best friends.
“I don’t know for sure. It’s kind of all the feelings mix together.” Yabu said bluntly.
“Hah? It’s not supposed to be just happiness you feel?” Daiki asked innocently.
Yabu shook his head and averted his gaze to the opened window. “Of course I’m happy today. Extremely happy. My other dream is going to be true. Our love will be united in front of God. However, there’s also another feeling. I’m nervous, am I able to say the vow perfectly? I’m afraid of something will go out of the order.” Yabu explained what he felt.
Takaki and Daiki listened to Yabu’s honesty even though they did not really understand. Both of them had not experienced about marriage yet. “Are you okay?” Takaki asked.
“I am to.” Yabu replied firmly after taking a breath. “I don’t want to ruin my own happiness, Takaki. Besides, I’m sure I’m not the only one feels it.”
“Hikaru?” Takaki half questioned.
Yabu averted his gaze back to his friends. “Yes, she is. Somewhat, I think she also feels it. And that’s make me sure we can pass it together.” Yabu said and he could not hide the happiness drawn on his face. The face that made many girls crazy over him.
“What if she doesn’t? She’s an easy going type.” Takaki asked.
“I know her for a long time, Takaki. Even though she’s easy going, there’s also something she can worry about. No one knows her as much as I do”
“Oh, you’re so confident.” Daiki amazed with self-esteem Yabu had. “Seeing your reaction, I want to take her aawwwaaaay from you.”
Yabu glared at Daiki. “Are you ready to start a fight with me?”
“Why not?” Daiki replied.
“I never ever let you.” Yabu declared.
“You’re sure? Even though one of your best friend?” Takaki asked with no intention but tease his unofficial leader. “Is love more important than a friendship?”
“What do you mean, Takaki? If he is my best friend, he surely knows what Hikaru means for me. And Hikaru have chosen me, not anyone else.” Yabu strictly claimed.
“Hey, I’m just asking. Don’t take over it. Besides, we are just kidding.” Takaki defended himself from Yabu’s deadly glared.
“I won’t let it happen. I never ever give her to anyone else. I vow that.” There were seriousness and a strong will Takaki and Daiki could hear from the best singer of their group and they could saw from his beautiful dark eyes.
“So possessive as always.” Daiki murmured.
“So, what if someone from your past want you back?” Takaki asked to himself.
End of Flash back
“Did I say something wrong?” Hikaru asked confusedly as Takaki went silent for long minutes and his gaze was far away out of the scenery you could look by the window. Daiki, himself, just looked and waited his best friend next step.
