[The feed runs a moment before Schneizel speaks up. There's a minute sigh in his voice, well-wrapped up in his composure.]It seems that Kanon Maldini may be added to the list of those missing. The young Empress Tianzi is also absent from where she is usually found - this wouldn't be the first time that people have left in waves, would it? A string ( Read more... )

I agree.

[ Though her tone might suggest that she wishes that were not the case, the reality of the situation looms prematurely like the darkest storm clouds. ]

It would indeed be foolish to ignore these tidings. What would you propose?

[ There is a brief pause, perhaps expectant, before the feed is cut. ]

[ Private to Schneizel | Very Difficult to Hack]

[ Now filtered, the feed resumes as video transmission rather solely audio with the camera's primary focus as none other than Valeria. Her expression is easily identifiable as that of one who is concerned and with good reason. Kanon and Schneizel were -- are -- very close. One needn't be rocket scientist to figure out that much, and with Kanon's disappearance... she does not sigh; though, her tone is marginally softer when she speaks. ]

How are you?

By all means, we must maintain some sort of search - we cannot risk endangering residents by presuming that they have returned home. But we cannot let it consume our time - resources have to be confirmed to ensure that we have the space, amongst other things, for new arrivals.

[Private, very difficult to hack]

[Silence runs for a moment, and then there's a soft chuckle. Schneizel gives a minute sigh. Kanon was one of his closest, to lose him is a blow that he can't ignore. Which doesn't necessarily mean he'd be grieving, but he affects a little of such anyway. It's only natural.]

There are some losses that hit rather hard, Valeria, but I'm quite fine.

Agreed. I'll see to it that Watch members know their priorities. It would be foolish to waste what resources we have, limited as they are.

[Private | Very Difficult to Hack]

[ She is silent for perhaps a beat longer than she should be, searching for the right words strewn about a sea of uncertainty. ]

If you'd like company, for whatever reason...

[A dry sort of laugh, if it can be called a laugh.]

Best get used to that, eh? There'll be plenty more that leave than stay, if'n this is anything like that last place I was. Ain't like to find stable footing in a place of such magic.

Mm. Such already appears to be the case, and has been since the start.

I'm curious; how different was that place, from here? If I understand correctly, there are some of our number who have been through a similar situation before.

That place bordered a beach, and near as I've seen it was more like to be overrun with monsters than fair folk. [Her voice falls to an uneasy mutter.] Not that they're one in the same. [Before resuming a more casual tone.]

There were more than, at times, and less at others, 'course that might be no different. Largest difference seems only that them what brought us there called themselves gods, and carried on quite a bit of tomfoolery when they weren't making our lives miserable.

I see. I wonder then, what sort of scale this happens on...

[But he trails off. The subject is one riddled with needless speculation, and is hardly of great consequence.]

You didn't have a 'Guardian' figure, then, acting for the people, rather than against them?

[ Like Valeria, Zelda can easily tell that Kanon was more than simply Schneizel's aide de camp. ]

Allow me to offer my condolences, Prince Schneizel.

[Although he is not a man to be ruled by his emotions, it would a lie to say that the loss does not grate on him for more reason than Kanon being an incredibly valuable asset. The kindness, such as it is, is appreciated, and he smiles minutely.]

Thank you, your Highness.

It seems you have recovered - I am glad to see you well again.

[And he means it.]

[ A man with little mind for his emotions may be less apt to notice on the rare occasions when they peek through his steely visage. Zelda empathizes, missing the strength that once stood, however briefly, at her right hand. Any more words would be hollow, so she drops the subject. ]

My thanks to you. The wound is shallow; I expect to be walking again within the week.

Such difficulty? Perhaps we should arrange for you to be seen by a healer, princess.

Kanon is... missing?

[She is silent for a moment, most likely considering his words and her own situation. She hasn't exactly gotten used to this place, but there are perhaps one or more people that she would be disheartened to see leave.

Switching to video, she changes the setting to private.

Her tone is low, and carries an uncertain gentleness that is not characteristic of her.]

It is for the best. Is it not?

That appears to be the case.

[When he comes into view, there is a small, nigh on unreadable smile curving his mouth. He gives a little nod.]

It is, though I doubt he'd agree.

[And the smile slips, falls away, and he lapses into pensive, heavy silence for a few moments, closing his eyes. He's unsure of how much his sister has been told, in truth. What he knows, he knows from Kanon, from Kanon who arrived shaken and anxious, and found Demeleier itself easy to adjust to than the truth of what he'd left behind -

Schneizel looks at his sister again, and his lips curve once more.]

We remain a strong group, don't we?

What little we are able to do for the time being - take stock of what we have in storage and what we are able to acquire in the near future, and note our priorities in regards to such.

Our building and renovation is something we must also seek to complete as quickly as possible, especially with the onset of winter not far ahead.
