Your visual imagery once again hits me in shockingly invasive and alarming ways -> ...like a woman tearing herself giving birth. Throws me headfirst into headspace that is much outside of the pathway of ordinary obstacles faced in daily dealings. And I kind of like to have that abrupt submersion into the story of someone else; it isn't comfortable, but it surely grabs me and makes me pay attention.
I don't know if you made this an intentional word play, but the phrase In their shared dreams... could potentially be read as something they both view as a viable course of action like a desire... what a deliciously ambivalent situation.
From that, for me, an immediate lyrical phrase comes to mind: Hate to love and love to hate her, like a broken record player; back and forth and here and gone and on and on and on and on (yea) from 'Sun' by Maroon Five. that song's hook reminds me on SO many levels of the ways in which this group could be entangled with their respective histories and each other As for part le second...yikes! Your comments make me blush you know :) The "in their shared dreams" bit was meant rather literally by the way. The Bijuu seem rather present (for the lack of a better word) in their host's minds after those learnt to control them. Only that it seemes to me that the Tailed Beasts have become rather benevolent in the last chapters. So I'll just go for more or less traditional cat symbolism when it comes down to the nekomata (independent, knowing secrets, sexual if you will). Thus it laying itself on Kakuzu even if just in his dreams.
